Barcelona is something of a pioneer amont Spanish cities in the use of bicycles, which are generally not seen here as much as they are in other countries. In March 2007 the city inaugurated Barcelona Bicing, a practical sustainable, non-polluting and noiseless form of transport ideal for getting about the city. The system, promoted by the Barcelona city council and run by Clear Chanel, has gone from strength to strength since then and now it is estimated that its fleet of bicycles are used up to 52000 times per day by Barcelonan’s citizens.Although the service is only for the use of Barcelona’s citizens, the bike lanes, which strech to more thatn 100 km, may be used by anyone with a bike, wheather their own or a rental.

There are many places renting bikes these days in the city, but the majority are concentrated in the old quarter ( Ciutat Vella ), right where the hotel Duquesa de Cardona is located.

La Terrazza Barcelona opens only in summer, and it is an open-air club for nonstop house, techno and dance. In this case, make sure you show up after 3.00 a.m and be ready for the style police. It is located in the popular Poble Espanyol, a closed “castle” area where you will find many restaurants, squares and building which are copies of famous building all over Spain. Make sure you dance until sun rises !

Razzmatazz Barcelona is famous for hosting the biggest in-town rock gigs, and at weekends , it turns into “5 clubs in one ” with mixing sounds. The ORC Barcelona 2015 will take place from the 27th of June to the 4th of July. The organization of the event is right in front of the Hotel Duquesa de Cardona and will be an honour for us to be able to see some of it from our terrace at the top floor.
The Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, a yacht club founded 140 years ago,  is organizing this sailing race , the best one for cruisers in three groups. Helly Hansen will be the official technical apparel supplier of the event and sofar, the organization is closing 105 pre-registrations from 23 different countries.

The 44 storey (483 room) Hotel Arts can be found at the end of the Marina board-walk  (map) with imposing views back over Barcelona, or uninterrupted views out to sea. It is one of a handful of iconic buildings standing out in the skyline. The latticework steel frame, gives the building a slightly high-tech industrial appearance, but inside it is all luxury, as you would expect from a Ritz-Carlton Group owned hotel.
It was built in 1992 to coincide with the Olympic Games, by architect Bruce Graham of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. In 2006 it underwent an extensive interior refit. And in 2012 they have just completed the redesign of their panoramic suits, designed by Josep Juanpere of GCA 
If you are wondering about the gigantic fish sculpture, it was designed by american Architect Frank O. Gehry. You can sit by the pool sipping a cocktail and admiring its beauty.
